Children spend the hot summer afternoon enjoying the cool waters of the fountain behind the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The fountain was gifted to the United States by the Italian government to mark the U.S. 1926 Sesquicentennial. Featuring four sea horses, symbols of strength and vitality, this fountain is actually a copy carved after the famed fountain at the Villa Borghese Gardens in Rome, Italy. It was designed by painter Christopher Unterberger and sculpted by Vincenzo Pacetti. The fountain unfortunately arrived too late for installation at the Sesquicentennial exposition but was later permanently installed instead in 1928 as part of the original landscaping at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. For generations since, many have enjoyed its unique beauty and cool waters.

My fascination with creating art began as a child at the age of five, drawing with oil pastels and painting with acrylics. I still recall the great fun I had playing with paint at the easel in kindergarten, just wanting that opportunity to go on forever. Thankfully I have never lost the thrill of having a paint brush in my hand. As a young person, I took art classes throughout elementary and high school, and then continued with classes in drawing, painting and photography at the college level (Boston University, Arcadia University and LaSalle University).
