About Marla McPherson
Hi there! Welcome and hope you are enjoying visiting my galleries. Here's some information about me and my journey as an artist. My fascination with creating art began as a child at the age of five, drawing with oil pastels and painting with acrylics. I still recall the great fun I had playing with paint at the easel in kindergarten, just wanting that opportunity to go on forever. Thankfully I have never lost the thrill of having a paint brush in my hand. I took art classes throughout elementary and high school, and continued with classes in drawing, painting and photography at the college level (Boston University, Arcadia University and La Salle University). In my thirties, I began painting more frequently with oil and experimenting with different styles, including impressionism and non-figurative contemporary abstract. I am particularly enamored with expressing through the use of glorious vibrant color in my paintings and photographs. I very much like to convey the peace and beauty I find in the world, strong emotions of joy and love, as well as a sense of wonder, mystery, magic and the divine. I find each time I pick up a paint brush, palette knife or camera to shoot pictures, I experiment with the power and relationships of color, line and form. I feel very fortunate to be an artist because of the pleasure and excitement I get to experience from this process of continual rediscovery and creative growth. I believe this is a joy everyone alive should experience because we all certainly have a unique perspective and vision to share with the world. So enjoy your trip through my galleries. Perhaps you will find something you or someone you know might like or be able to use. If you wish, share on social media - I would certainly appreciate the additional exposure since I am relatively new to online exhibition. Feel free to come back anytime to see my new work as well and see how I am developing as an artist. Have a wonderful day!!
